Biography

Born in Westgate in Newcastle upon Tyne, he served with the 11th (Pioneer) Battalion DLI. Private Seymour was killed in action on 20 November 1917 on the opening day of the Battle of Cambrai, when the Pioneers worked hard digging communication trenches forwards to the positions newly won by the 20th Division. He was 23 years old. James Seymour is buried in Villers-Plouich Communal Cemetery, France.
